Bob’s legacy of love, faith, and service will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him

Robert (Bob) Oliver Halvorson, 81, of Corcoran, Minnesota, passed away on January 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He peacefully entered the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ.

Born on June 11, 1943, in Stanley, North Dakota, Bob was the first of 10 children born to Alvin Oliver and Evelyn Rose (Butterfield) Halvorson. As a child, he was full of life and constant smiles, earning the nickname “Smiley,” a smile that remained a hallmark of his personality throughout his entire life. He graduated from Stanley High School and later from the State School of Science in Wahpeton, North Dakota. Bob had a successful career in the HVAC industry, eventually founding HVAC Reps, Inc. in 1985. He was proud to work alongside his wife, Sharon, and their children, Tammi Dee and Scott Conrad Halvorson, and was blessed to see his son carry on the family business after his retirement.

Bob's greatest joy was marrying the love of his life, Sharon Fay Heglund, on November 29, 1964. They shared 60 wonderful years together, most of which were spent in their Corcoran home, raising their children. Becoming a grandfather was a joy beyond measure, and he treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren Mattia Rose and Hanna Cora Olstad. Bob’s life was marked by family, laughter, hard work, and faith. He enjoyed gathering with loved ones to celebrate life with food, conversation, and a good cup of coffee. He was known for his integrity, hard work, tenacity, kindness, and unwavering faith, always quick with a smile and a kind word. He lived and loved well.

Bob was a faithful member of Riverwood Covenant Church, where he was a founding member and served in many capacities, including on the leadership team, building committee, ushering, and in small groups. His servant-hearted leadership and commitment to his church family touched countless lives.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Sharon; children, Tammi (Curtis) Olstad and Scott Halvorson; grandchildren, Mattia (Ellis) Riley and Hanna Olstad; siblings, Peggy (Norbert) Weixel, Roger (Barbara), Dennis, Alvin Jr. (Lori), Kevin (Christy), and Karen (Michael) Lee; sisters-in-laws, Mary Halvorson and Diane Halvorson; and many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Evelyn Halvorson, and siblings, Richard, Rodney, and David.
