Bette Jean Van Guilder

Bette Jean Van Guilder age 72 was welcomed into Heaven on Friday, February 10, 2023 by her daughter Jessi Fritz, her son Brock Rechtzigel, her parents, her brother-in-law Henry Swanson and her sister-in-law Caroline Van Guilder.

Bette died peacefully at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville following a brief illness.

Bette was born on September 20, 1950 in Northfield, MN to Gene and Betty Van Guilder. She grew up in Cannon Falls and graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1968. In 1972 Bette married Dennis Rechtzigel and they were blessed with four children: Jessi, Brock, Bree and Ryan. Bette and Dennis later divorced.

Bette had many talents including sewing, alterations, knitting, crocheting and any craft she thought would be fun and challenging. She loved traveling and had been to London and Ireland. She especially loved road trips and had visited most of the 50 States.

Bette’s greatest love was her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered as loving and sweet, always a smile on her face and very generous with her kindness.

Bette is sadly missed by her daughter Bree (Tim) Smude and son Ryan (Angie) Rechtzigel. Her grandchildren Colton Fritz, Brittani Rechtzigel (Max) Tuma, Jessica and Gabby Smude. Her siblings Connie (Ken) Weaver, Cheri Van Guilder (Richard Budenski), Sue Swanson, Tammy (Dan) Smith and Kerry Van Guilder. Plus several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
