A Loving Son and Friend
Ben was born on April 18, 1977, and grew up in Hastings, where he spent much of his life surrounded by the farms and fields he loved. A self-taught man, Ben took immense pride in everything he learned on his own - whether it was on the farm, in the garage, or in any corner of life. He lived a plain and simple life, something he valued deeply.
Ben found joy in many things: his daughter Skyler, his loyal dog Marley, his tools, his snowmobile, his dirt bike, and his 1972 Chevy truck — one of his most prized possessions. He took great pride in his knowledge of tractors, semis, and farming, often joking that “he knew more about those topics than anyone.” Visiting the farm with Ben was always a treat — he loved to show what was happening, share his knowledge, and take time to explain every detail with enthusiasm.
Ben will be remembered for his calm and respectful nature. Friends and family often remarked that he never got mad and treated everyone with kindness. He could sit down with anyone, whether he knew them well or not, and make them feel completely at ease. One of the things that meant the most to his family was how he always ended conversations with his mom by saying, “I love you.”
As his friend Jessie put it best, “Heaven is in for one hell of a ride.”
Ben is survived by his beloved daughter, Skyler; his parents, Jim and Sharon Millard; his brothers, Grant, Jimmy, and Matt; and his sisters, Kelly and Alyssa.
