Belford ‘Angel’ Wilson
Belford LaVon Wilson, affectionately known as “Angel,” of Washington, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 12, 2026. He was born on November 3, 1960, to the late Marlene Simone Wilson and Thomas Peyton Williams, of the New Kensington and Washington areas.
Belford worked as a laborer and was a skilled steelworker and welder. He possessed a true gift for building and renovating apartments and was widely known for his intellect, his intelligence, and his ability to engage in meaningful conversation with anyone he met.
Though he had many interests, his greatest passion was reading. Over his lifetime, he read countless books. Among his favorites were I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou and The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck.
Belford attended schools in the Trinity Area School District, Washington Area School District, Kennett-Millville School District, and New Kensington Area School District. He was well known throughout the community and formed lasting connections with many people. Deeply loved and fiercely loyal to his family, he held a special place in the hearts of the children, who affectionately knew him as Uncle Angel.
He is survived by Minister Joyce R. Pitts (John) of Washington, Pennsylvania; his sisters, Traee Wilson-Modi of Pittsburgh and Kimberly Wilson of Tallahassee, Florida; and by his brother, Antonio Wilson of Washington, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by his son, LaVon Wilson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marlene S. Wilson; his father, Thomas Peyton Williams; his sisters, Cherry E. Wilson and LeLani-Price; his brother, Orlando D. Williams; and his nephews, Zymier Wilson and Julius R. Blair.
