Barnie Melsted

Barnie Melsted, also known as "Sonny" or "Bugs", passed away peacefully on February 6, 2024, at the age of 84 in Maple Grove, Minnesota. Born on March 19, 1939, in North Dakota, Barnie was a kind, caring, and giving person who found tranquility in the peaceful surroundings of nature. He possessed exceptional craftsmanship skills, able to construct virtually anything with his hands and a few tools. Moreover, Barnie had a keen interest in computers long before they became popular.

In his leisure time, Barnie found joy in various activities such as running, exercising and tending to his home and yard. He was passionate about health and fitness, and was sometimes known to eat as many as 6 bananas a day. He was also an avid supporter of the Minnesota Twins and enjoyed following their games.

Barnie was preceded in death by his parents Barney Sr and Fern Melsted, son Lee, sister Betty Hughes, and former spouse Marcy. He is survived by his grandson Jason Knox and previous wife Marge Vang. He leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of his family and friends.

To honor Barnie's life, a memorial service will be held privately among his loved ones, providing an opportunity for them to remember and celebrate his life.
