Barbara Lee Carey Sawka

1952-2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, Barbara Lee Carey Sawka, who passed away peacefully in her home on March 09, 2026, at the age of 73.

Barb shared 35 wonderful years with her devoted husband, Ernest Sawka. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. She was the heart of her family and a source of strength and kindness to everyone who knew her.

She was a loving mother/stepmother, grandmother/step grandmother, and great grandmother to 5 children, 6 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. She touched the lives of anyone she knew.

Her family meant everything to her, and she found her greatest joy in spending time with them, celebrating milestones, and creating lasting traditions.

Barb will be remembered for her kind spirit, generous heart, and the way she made others laugh at her spunky personality. She touched the lives of anyone she crossed paths with and will be

deeply missed.

She preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Jerimae Petrofska and her stepson, Ernest Sawka, Jr.

She is survived by her brother, William Petrofska; her loving husband, Ernest Sawka; her children, James Carey, Steven Carey, Tanya Sawka Relf, and Gregory Sawka; her grandchildren, Ashley Sperling (Aaron), Thomas Carey, Ashlie Sawka, Kayla Tchida, Jaiden Koland (Tyler), Roland Sawka, and 9 great grandchildren.

Though she is no longer with us, the love she gave and the memories she created will remain in our hearts forever.
