About Annelle
Annelle Smith Jost, beloved mother, grandmother, and wife, passed away peacefully at her home in Nevis, MN, on September 6, 2024, at the age of 80. Her departure leaves a void in the lives of her family that can never be filled.
Born in Clovis, NM in 1944 to Irvin and Allie Mae Smith, Annelle grew up with a passion for life and community. She attended school in Melrose, NM, where she shined in 4-H, basketball, band, a baton twirler and was the homecoming queen.
After graduating from high school, she moved to Arizona, where she married Thomas Stigsell in 1962. Together, they had two children, Bob and Shawna. In 1979, they relocated from Phoenix to Nevis, MN, where they operated two resorts over 13 years before moving to Thief River Falls, MN.
In 2000, Annelle married Stephen Jost. The couple enjoyed building a summer home in Nevis. They spent their winters in Texas, Arizona, and Kansas for the next 24 years.
Annelle was passionate about cooking, entertaining, dining out, pontoon rides, golfing, decorating, and traveling. She was actively involved in Faith Bridge Baptist Church in Park Rapids and First Baptist in Haysville, KS. She also cherished her time with the Nevis Lions Club and the Red Hat Society.
Annelle’s greatest pride was her children, Bob and Shawna. She often said their birth transformed her life for the better, and her love and support were evident in all she did for them. Her grandchildren brought immense joy to her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Annelle was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Danny and Billy, and granddaughter Kaela.
She is survived by her husband Steve, beloved dog Molly, sister Rosalie, children Bob (Heidi) and Shawna (Jacob), stepchildren Carey (Lorri), Carla (Jamie), Chris and 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and a niece and nephews, all of whom will forever remember the love and joy she brought to their lives.
