life story

Anne Gordon Murrill, aged 85, had a peaceful and dignified death on December 27, 2024 with loved ones beside her.

Born in Ottawa, Canada she graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa with a Bachelor of Science Degree, majoring in mathematics and geography. Anne met her husband of 33 years Rupert Murrill on a trip to Europe while crossing the Atlantic ocean. Together they traveled extensively and lived abroad with their four children during Rupert’s sabbatical years from the University of Minnesota. After Rupert’s passing in 1997, Anne was blessed with a second love and partner, Bob Jamieson.

Anne was humble, kind, smart and loving. She had a gentle personality, a calming presence, and a smile that spread joy to all. Anne enjoyed travel, reading, gardening, swimming, canoeing, sailing, and spending time with family and friends at the summer cottage in North Central Minnesota. After marrying Rupert, Anne was a homemaker raising their children and later pursued her interest in public health statistics while working as a data analyst at the Minnesota Department of Health. Her greatest legacy are her children and two grandsons, who each in their own way resemble the best parts of Anne. Above all she was a caring, giving, and happy mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and wife. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed but we take comfort that she has been released from her broken body and mind and is now free of her dementia.

Anne is survived by her children Christopher, Peter, Andrea (Randy Lewandowski), Alexander, two grandsons Soren and Sevien Lewandowski, and extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Redvers and Helen Ross, her sisters Mary McEwan and Elizabeth Gillham, husband Rupert Murrill and partner Bob Jamieson.

Special thanks and gratitude to the attentive staff at Abiitan Mill City where Anne lived and was cherished for the last 5 years.

Private family burial at Lakewood Cemetary.

Poem by Tias Surya Little

Where did you go?

Into the sunset of Mother Earth...

Where did you go?

Into the light of the early evening skies...

Where did you go?

Into the far distance, beautiful horizons...

Where did you go?

Into the vapor of heavenly chi...

Where did you go?

To the stars above and the orbiting planets...

Where did you go?

Into the setting sun back to Mother Earth

and Father Sky...

Where did you go?

Deep in my heart

Where you'll live near

Dear in remembrance

of all our years together.

Where did you go?

To the pure land into the Great Mystery

I love you.

May you be at peace.

May your light of passing guide us

and protect us always.

Blessings...
