Celebrating the Life of A.J.
Andrew James Abbott (A.J.) of Saint Paul Minnesota, born December 23 1956, died August 4 2026. Preceded in death by parents Norma Abbott Horton, James H. Abbott, and brother Christopher Currier. Mourned by his partner of 23 years Christine Lynch and siblings: Jamey Lindenau, Constance Abbott-Foster (Deanna), Edward Abbott, Mari Lynn Fik, Rebecca Penovich (John), Tom Horton (Anjelica). Children: Adam Dankers, Alisun Abbott Stoufer (Joe), and Ashlee Toavs (Bennett). Grandchildren: Selma and Rollie Toavs. Special mention of Michael Bailey his best friend from second grade, his dear cousin Joe Wilcoxen, and the entire Currier Family.
Known as Mac, Andy, or A.J. he was a kind and gentle soul with an incredible lust for life, love of music and people. He would frequently run into old friends wherever he went, and the name they used for him was a good indication of how long they had known him.
A.J. worked for several years as a printer at Webb/Quebocor, but music was his real passion. He had his first gig at Age 11 playing a Christmas party with his band Columbus and Crew. In high school he acquired his bonus family, the Currier's, who continued to foster his love of music, even bringing his band Jinx on a trip to Europe. He went on to play in several other bands such as The BT Blaster's, The Smokin J's, The Wingnuts, The Sail Cats, and The Hawthorne Brothers.
He will long be remembered by his cousins, extended family and friends, along with scores of local musicians.
His family will lay him to rest in a private ceremony at Roselawn Cemetary, on Monday, August 17, 2026.
