life story
Andrea (Ande) Louise (Weidig) Lawrence, age 73, passed away October 29, 2024, following a long illness. Ande was born August 6, 1951 in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Neva (Bartell) Weidig and James Weidig. A loving sister, daughter, cousin and friend, Ande grew up in Royal Oak, Michigan, graduated from Kimball High School, and attended Michigan State University. Michigan cities she lived in included Royal Oak, East Lansing, Lapeer, and Farmington. She lived for a time in Des Moines, Iowa, and in Indianapolis, Indiana. While in Minnesota she lived in Bloomington, Eagan, and Brooklyn Center.
Ande greatly enjoyed music and sang in various choirs. She liked attending concerts, traveling, cooking and baking, writing, connecting with people on social media, and attending Renaissance festivals. She was an avid mystery reader and she loved dogs. She was a quintessential fan of all things PBS and British, Downton Abbey, and was a huge fan of actors Alan Rickman, Colin Firth, and Maggie Smith. Ande loved spending time with family and friends. Earlier in her life she was very active in Girl Scouts both as a camper and camp counselor, and she enjoyed family camping, swimming, and playing cards. She liked working in an office setting. Some of her work experiences included pizza shop delivery person and manager, medical billing insurance coordinator and office manager, and camp counselor. Ande was always cheerful, genuinely friendly, and readily engaged with people. Everyone appreciated her dry sense of humor and her intelligence. She loved the theater, especially Gilbert and Sullivan, and greatly enjoyed a local Van Gogh art exhibit.
She was preceded in death by her mother Neva (Bartell) Weidig, father James Weidig, sister Kathryn (Katie) Weidig, and her grandparents, aunts and uncles. She is survived by her sister Susie (John) Harper, brother Paul (Debbie) Weidig, many cousins, Dianne Chapman, and close friends Kristy and Larry Harms. Ande will be sadly missed by her family and friends, who loved her very much.
