Amy Catherine Nadeau

May 28, 1963 – September 29, 2026

Shakopee, MN, USA

Amy Catherine Nadeau, age 63, of Shakopee, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on September 29th at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous 6-month battle with stage 4 glioblastoma.

Amy was born on May 28, 1963 in Urbana, IL, to Robert and Ann Nadeau. Soon after she was born, her family moved to Mankato, MN, where she grew up and graduated from Mankato West high school. She then attended College at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she earned her Bachelor's in elementary education.

While Amy's elementary education background reflected her warm spirit, her vibrant passions took her on a wonderfully diverse journey. Amy inherited a gift for cooking from her mother, developing extraordinary skill in the culinary arts, with a special talent for pastries and desserts. This passion blossomed into a fulfilling professional career working at a variety of notable restaurants, as well as running her own successful catering and personal chef business. Amy always said that cooking for people was her "love language," and she touched the hearts of many with her wonderful food and uplifting personality.

When she wasn't in the kitchen, Amy often could be found in her "happy place," which was 1200 sq. ft. of garden plots she rented at Bridgewood Church in Savage. A dedicated Master Gardener, she took immense joy in cultivating all kinds of flowers and growing all kinds of vegetables. She made many special "garden friends" there who were all inspired by her.

Coming from a musical family - both of her parents were accomplished musicians - Amy held a lifelong love and deep appreciation for all genres of music, with a particular fondness for choir and piano. Amy sang alto with the Minnesota Chorale and Wayzata Community Church choir, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Animals held a very special place in Amy's soft heart. She shared a profound love for all creatures and generously dedicated her time volunteering at a local ranch, "The Hayloft," where she lovingly cared for goats, llamas, alpacas, and horses. She had two cats, Panda and Josie, who she loved deeply.

Amy was always very adventurous and tried her hand at fencing, axe throwing, and solo hiking. She loved the Renaissance Festival and the State Fair, and she was an avid reader.

Though Amy chose not to have children of her own, she poured her heart into her family and was undeniably everyone's favorite aunt. She cherished her nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews, leaving them with a lifetime of warmth, laughter, and cherished memories.

Amy is survived by her loving siblings: sister Tracy (Gary) Day, brother Robert Nadeau, brother Jeffrey Nadeau, many adoring nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews, and her dearest best friend of 50 years, Renee Flesner.

Amy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Nadeau and Ann Nadeau Britton, and her older sister, Andrea Nadeau.

A memorial service to celebrate Amy's beautiful life will be held Saturday, November 7th, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Wayzata Community Church in Wayzata. MN. In honor of Amy's immense love for animals, the family kindly requests that donations be made to any animal rescue of your choice, in lieu of flowers.

Amy accepted death with remarkable grace and was the source of strength for all her loved ones. She had so much passion for everything she did and was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.

We would like to thank everyone who came to visit Amy during her last weeks of life as this meant so much to her. We would also like to thank Allina hospice for the wonderful care that they provided for Amy and her family.
