life story

A short life lived

On Tuesday, June 14th, Amanda Burr, our beautiful and feisty daughter, sister, aunt, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 42. Born March 14th, 1980 in Hastings MN to Robert and Gloria Burr, is by her father Robert, siblings Tobi Burr (Adam Miller), Bobbi (Josh) Seleski. Nieces, Taylor (Jeremy) Henson, Elsie, Adeline and Vivian Seleski and nephew, Bailey (Sadie Karbo) Burr, grandfather Dale Pearson and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Amanda was a natural empath and spent her life caring for others who needed help.

Amanda's Story

Amanda went to school and graduated with an Associate's Degree in Human Services. She worked as a PCA with vulnerable adults and eventually she moved on to work with her true passion, children, and spent some of the best years of her short life serving as a paraprofessional in a school for students with high needs. Amanda began her battle with Crohn's disease at the young age of 13. She spent most of her teenage years and young adulthood in and out of hospitals trying to identify and control the disease. Throughout her teens, twenties and thirties, she underwent numerous surgeries which left her increasingly fragile and in need of more medical interventions, and over time less independent. Although most of her life was spent fighting an invisible disease, she made sure to live her life to the fullest when she was feeling strong. She fiercely loved her nieces and nephew and spent any time she had feeling healthy spoiling them with her time and gifts. She was the middle sister and made sure to always keep her older and younger sister laughing and on their toes. She was incredibly witty and had a quick reply to nearly everything. She loved to sing and with each new song on the radio; you could be sure that she would belt out the lyrics and make sure to let everyone around know that she “sounds just like them”. May of 2021 she and her doctors made the decision to begin hospice so she could spend time out of hospitals and at home with her family and friends making memories.

Amanda was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Burr, grandparents George and Sara Burr and Vivian Pearson and her beloved godfather Bernie Burr. She left behind a family that will deeply miss her but who are relieved she is finally out of pain.
