About Abe
Our father, Albert Edwin Hanson, has passed on to eternal life.
Abe was born August 29, 1938, to Hans and Randine Hanson of Erskine, MN. He lived there with his 8 siblings until the family moved to Bemidji during his teenage years. At the age of 23, Abe enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany.
Upon his release from the Army, Abe began working at Nuply/Georgia Pacific in Bemidji where he was a loyal and hard-working employee for over 30 years. “Retired” Abe then worked at Bethel Lutheran Church doing maintenance for several more years.
Abe and Hazel were married May 18, 1973. They made their home in Bemidji with the three boys, Daniel, Scott, and Timothy. Sadly, Hazel passed away on July 28, 2015.
Abe was also preceded in death by his parents Hans and Randine Hanson; infant sister Doris Hanson; twin brother Norm Hanson; siblings Bernice Melugin, Thelma Bahr, Ruth Pearson, Herb Hanson, and Melvin Hanson; grandson Aron Rundell.
Abe is survived by sons Daniel Rundell, Scott (Kate) Rundell, and Timothy (Melany) Rundell; grandchildren Megan Rundell, Justin Rundell, Alicia Frovarp, Marissa Rundell, Emalee Benson, Dylan Rundell, Wyatt Rundell, Juleah Rundell, Jazmyn Rundell; great grandchildren Xavier Olson, Olivia Rundell, Maxwell Rundell, Harper Frovarp, and Hudson Frovarp; his sister Ellen Caldwell; sisters-in-law Marlys (Herb), Patty (Mel), and Alberta (Norm).
One of Abe’s favorite things was deer hunting. He would get up early and be in his deer stand before dawn, returning only for coffee time and meals throughout those days in November. Any other time of year, Abe’s greatest joy was spending time with his grand-children and great grand-children. He was a big fan of the MN Vikings and Twins. He will be missed and will always hold a special place in our hearts.
