In Loving Memory of Alan Dahlman (ALDO)
Alan Lee Dahlman, 62 of Newton Iowa, passed away on August 20, 2026.
Alan was a proud veteran who served his country in both the United States Navy and the United States Army. His service was an important part of who he was, and he carried deep pride in having served his country.
Alan was a man who found joy in the simple things in life. Some of the most meaningful parts of his life were the everyday moments he shared with his children. Those moments may have seemed small at the time, but they became the memories that will be carried forever.
His son James remembers the laughter and adventures they shared together—like the time spiders came home in the car after bringing home the Christmas tree. He also remembers jumping into piles of leaves with his dad and his brother Justin, playing video games together, and hearing Alan's familiar question, “How's this thing work?”
Alan loved making memories with his children. He took Frank and Ashley to sports card expos and patiently stood in line for hours so they could get autographs from their favorite players. These simple acts of love meant more than he may have ever realized. They are the moments his children will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
Alan is survived by his children, Frank, Ashley (Mia), Justin, and James (Taylor); his bonus mom, Susan; his brothers, Steve (Carol) and Chris; and his sister, Anne. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie, and his father, Ray.
Alan's greatest legacy is not measured in things, but in the love he gave and the memories he left behind. His children will carry his laughter, his stories, his quirks, and his love with them always. Though they will miss him more than words can express, they can find comfort knowing that a part of their dad will live on in each of them.
Until we meet again, Dad. We love you. We will miss you. We will carry you with us always, and you will never be forgotten.
