Adamo Ortiz passed peacefully surrounded by family on the night of May 10th, 2022.
Adamo’s Life
Adamo was born in San Antonio, Texas where he spent most of his life. When Adamo turned 18 he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served from 1966-1983. While in the Navy, Adamo had two children, Armando, and Vanessa.
Adamo spent the rest of his time in San Antonio working with the police department as a translator, and continued his work as a translator and ESL teacher after moving to Iowa with his wife Rebecca and his grandchildren Patrick, Danielle, and Danika.
In the years before his death Adamo loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and helping Spanish speaking adults communicate with English speakers around his community.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Ortiz of San Antonio, Texas; his brothers Abelardo and Eddie Ortiz of San Antonio: his sisters Imelda and Harlene Ortiz of San Antonio; his daughter Vanessa Li of San Antonio; his grandchildren Ian Ortiz of Akron, Iowa and A.J. Li of San Antonio; and step grandchildren Patrick, Danielle, and Danika Ortiz of Sioux Falls, SD and Andrea Meyer of Moville, Iowa.
He is preceded in death by his son Armando Ortiz and step grandchild Arlena Meyer.
